The Canterbury branch opted to upgrade its current lighting and wanted to invest in the latest lighting and wireless technology available to maximise return on investment while also increasing employee productivity and safety.
What we did
We created a design plan incorporating the latest wireless lighting technology to automate the lighting. We utilised a combination of light-sensing to adjust lighting output depending on the amount of light in room spaces as well as occupancy sensing so the lighting shuts down if no one is present in the area.
Outcome
TIL freight was able to attain an exceptional return of investment of only 1.45 years and an annual net saving of $40,845.00. Freight productivity increased as warehouse picking and sorting is now faster. This is largely due to better lighting and optical control to ensure key areas are lit to optimise visibility.
PAK'nSAVE Ormiston now has one of New Zealand's most energy efficient supermarket lighting systems.
We removed over 100 lights and still managed to increase lighting levels by 200-400% across the store.
